Do I need to know how to program?
No. The vault and the tutorial work 100% without code. With Python installed, two commands generate the map and search; without it, you lose only those two functions.

With any agent that reads the files of the working folder: Claude Code, Cursor, ZCode and similar. The index is plain Markdown — it also works as a guide to paste snippets into a web chat.
Do I need to pay a subscription for anything?
No. Obsidian is free for personal use and the tools are two local scripts. The AI plan you already use, if any, stays on your account — the package adds no cost.
I already have an Obsidian vault — can I use just the tools?
Yes. Both were built for Markdown-notes vaults and tested on 2 distinct vaults: copy the tools folder to the root and run.
